Dr. Kimberly Hale Assistant Professor Dr. Hale has worked with children, families, and schools since 1987. She received her educational specialist and master’s degrees from Radford University. Dr. Hale began her professional career as a school psychologist in Bettendorf, Iowa and invested twelve years working in suburban and inner-city schools. She worked as a field examiner for American Guidance Services and took part in the revisions of the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement and Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children. While working in public schools, Dr. Hale also held adjunct teaching positions at Radford University in the departments of Psychology and Special Education. Dr. Hale enrolled in a doctoral program in 2001 and co-taught an introductory child development course for two-years. She completed a Ph.D. in Human Development with a specialty in children at Virginia Tech in 2005. Prior to joining the faculty at ETSU, Dr. Hale worked extensively with elementary schools in an inner-city school system to implement research-based interventions and progress monitoring assessments for students struggling with academics. Dr. Hale’s research interest includes utilization of research-based interventions as a method of strengthening instruction and identifying students with specific learning disabilities, social and emotional development of young children, preventive and developmental services for young children, and teacher identity development and teacher emotions.
