Krista Turner

Hello my name is Krista Turner. I am married and have one daughter. I have been here at ETSU for seven years. I began working at the Child Study Center as a Child Care Specialist, worked and moved up to a Teacher I position. I enjoyed three years in the classroom working with infants and toddlers. During this time I was blessed to have an experience with looping. I was able to be the teacher for a group of children 3 months to 3 years of age. The relationships and bonds formed will last a lifetime. It was a very rewarding experience. I am currently the On-site Director of Little Buccaneers Student Child Care Center. I am enjoying this position and am definitely learning a lot! I have had a great time building relationships with the student parents, student workers, and children. The staff and I are working hard to become a collaborative team that keeps one thing as our common goal. We always want to do what is best for the children. We have many exciting plans and ideas to help Little Bucs grow and flourish!
In addition, I have also served as an adjunct faculty member for three years, been a mentor for TECTA students, and a TECTA instructor.

Education:  I am currently enrolled in the new Doctoral Program in Early Childhood here at ETSU. I completed my Masters in Early Childhood, ETSU in 2005, and my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies K-8, Virginia Intermont College in 1995.

Honor Societies: Member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, and listed among those on the Chancellor’s List Honor Society.

Professional Memberships and Affiliations: Member of the TECTA advisory board, member of the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers, Public Policy Chair for the aaeyc, past -president of the Greater Bristol Early Childhood Association, Member of the ETSU Early Childhood Conference Board and planning committee.
