Research in Early Childhood Learning & Development: A Colloquium Series
The Research Colloquium is an ongoing series of lectures that focus on empirical research in early childhood learning and development. The purposes of this series are:
a) to increase the awareness of scientific information about issues of development and learning in young children;
b) to encourage an exchange of information between professionals; and,
c) to enhance the research abilities of investigators.
It is hoped that this colloquium will help advance the state of our knowledge and understanding of child development as well as better informing professional practice in areas such as early childhood education, child development, psychology, communication, and special education. Nationally and internationally recognized researchers are invited to address topics related to typical and atypical development of children who range from birth through the early elementary school ages. Two to three such lectures will be held each academic year. The talks focus on the speaker’s empirical research and are approximately an hour and a half in length with time for questions and answers.
